Lieutenant Colonel La Daryl D. Franklin is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. Lieutenant Colonel Franklin received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration – Information Technology from TUI University in Los Alamitos, California in 2002. He received his Bachelors of Arts degree and was commission in the Army Corps of Engineers from Louisiana State University – Shreveport in 1994. He is a graduate of Command and General Staff College, Command and Staff Services School and Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses. Franklin originally enlisted in the United States Army Reserve / Louisiana Army National Guard in 1988 as a junior enlisted Soldier where he deployed to Desert Storm (1991) just north of King Khalid Military City (KKMC) in Saudi Arabia.
Lieutenant Colonel Franklin’s first assignment as a Commissioned Officer was with the 92nd Engineer Battalion Combat Heavy at Fort Stewart, Georgia as the Assistant Battalion Maintenance Officer, Vertical Platoon Leader, and Battalion S-2. Lieutenant Colonel Franklin was deployed to Bosnia during SFOR 5 as the Assistant Brigade S-3 Operations, 1st Calvary Division. Upon returning from Bosnia, Lieutenant Colonel Franklin assumed command of Bravo Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, 1st Calvary Division where in March of 2000 – July 2001 where the Company deployed to Montana in support of the 2000 DOD Emergency Response to the Nine Mile Forest Fires an Inter-Agency effort under the Department Interior. Lieutenant Colonel Franklin’s second command was Company Commander of the Shreveport Army Recruiting Company, U.S. Army Recruiting Command and was the Battalion Executive Officer for the U.S. Army New Orleans Recruiting Battalion during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Lieutenant Colonel Franklin’s most recent deployed service was as the Battalion Military Transition Team Chief for the 2nd Battalion, 1st Brigade, 5th Iraqi Army Division in Baqubah, Iraq and Kirkush, Iraq from February 2007 – April 2008. Currently, LTC Franklin serves as the Deputy Commanding Officer of the 36th Engineer Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas, which provides World-wide Engineering Support to America’s Third Armored Corps stretched over 5 Army Installations (Fort Hood, Texas/Fort Bliss, Texas/ Fort Carson, Colorado/Fort Riley, Kansas and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri).
